Lin Anderson was born in Greenock of Scottish and Irish parents, and is a graduate of Glasgow,
Edinburgh, and Napier Universities and still assists from time to time at Napier University
Screen Academy on creative writing courses.
Her writing includes eight novels, and one novella in her best-selling forensic scientist
Rhona MacLeod series. She has had short stories published and broadcast on radio, and
written film scripts and one non-fiction book.
She is the co-founder (with Alex Gray) of Bloody Scotland, Scotland's international book
festival dedicated to crime-writing, and she is the CHAIR of the Society of Authors in
Scotland.
She lives in Merchiston in Edinburgh, dubbed 'Writer’s Block' by neighbour Ian Rankin, as
it is also home to Alexander McCall Smith, J K Rowling (until recently), and a number of
other writers.
Lin is one of the Femmes Fatales crime writing trio.
Her writing career began with short stories, and with the publication of the story Pandrops
in New Writing Scotland #14, and all these years later she was delighted to have her short
story Saving Mr Ugwu included in New Writing Scotland #30. Another of her short stories
Snake House was included in the 10th Anniversary Macallan Short Story Collection, and
she has recently had stories included in the collections Crimespotting and Shattered.
